- Geoff Turton gave a short presentation on the relatively recent
.webp digital image file format being developed by Google.
.WebP is very versatile, offering lossy and lossless image file compression options,
which can produce considerably smaller image file sizes than .jpg.
This has the potential to considerably reduce digital storage and broadband transmission costs
for companies like Google and Facebook.
At this time, only Google Chrome and Opera web browsers are able to display .webp image files.
See this Wikipedia article
for more details.
- XnConvert

Discussion :
|
- The conditions for entering photos in the 2014 ASCCA Digital Photography Competition state:
"2. All photographs submitted must be taken by the entrant on a digital camera since
30 August 2013 and should include the date on the file."
As well as the image data captured by a digital camera, an image file includes details of the camera settings
used and the date the image was captured. This additional information is known as
Exchangeable Image File (EXIF) data.
After editing a digital image on a computer, most image editing programs provide the option
of either saving the original EXIF data with the edited image or discarding it.
For the ASCCA competition, the EXIF data should be retained.
Most digital image viewers display EXIF data as part of the image file properties.
