- Results of the ASCCA 2007 Digital Photography Competition
will be announced at the ASCCA AGM on 15 November 2007.
- Members submitted several lists of suggested photo themes
for future monthly meetings. A list for all our 2008 meetings
will be available shortly.

to be presented at our December meeting.

- Ian Chesterfield presented some notes on
"Posing Subjects for Portrait Photos".
- Geoff Turton described the terms
"resolution" and "quality",
as they relate to digital images.

Activity :
|
- To give members more time to collect photos for future meetings,
it was suggested that a full list of subjects for 2008 meetings
be available by January 2008.
Accordingly, at our November meeting,
members are asked to submit a list of 10 topics
they would like to see as themes for our monthly photos next year.
- A "Single Flower" is the theme for photos
to be presented in November.

- 12 members will attend the initial
"Basic Digital Camera Operation" course.
The course will be conducted in the Annexe
on the third Tuesday of the month, in two sessions
(9:00am - 10:00am and 10:15am to 11:15am), commencing on
Tuesday 18 September 2007.

Presentation :

- Robin Ireland presented the first part of a PC User
magazine tutorial which featured a couple of Picasa2's
useful tools for enhancing digital images.

Activity :

- Members will have to be on the lookout for the subject
of next month's photos - "Spiders and Webs".

must be submitted to Ian Chesterfield on a CD, with a completed
personal entry form, by the next DIG meeting on 3 July 2007.
- As in previous years, the categories are:

- 1b - Enhanced PEOPLE
- 1c - Enhanced GENERAL
- 2a - Not Enhanced LANDSCAPE

- Each image must be given a title and labelled as follows:

- ASCCA's 2007 Digital Photography Competition was launched in April.
Categories and conditions of entry are the same as for the previous
two years and entries must be submitted to Ian Chesterfield by the
3 July 2007 DIG meeting date.
- Margaret Butt can supply entry forms for anyone interested in
entering the 19th Sutherland Shire National Exhibition of Photography 2007.
Entries for this competition close on 4 August 2007.

- Geoff Turton demonstrated how digital photos can be easily and
effectively reduced in size for sending by e-mail, using Windows XP Explorer.
|
Activity :
|
- The subject for photos to be presented at our June meeting is
"Straight Lines". Photos should feature one or more straight lines
that are either horizontal, vertical, parallel to one another or at
various angles.

The "Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006" exhibition is on at the Australian Museum,
College St, Sydney, until 18 March 2007.
Now in its 42nd year, the exhibition showcases the winning and commended images
from the world's largest wildlife photography competition, which attracted over
18,000 photographers from 55 countries this year.

- Ian Robinson gave an informative talk on "Guidelines for Photo Composition".
Ian Chesterfield provided some additional notes on the same subject.

Activity :

Members' photos for this month should explore the "Rule of Thirds".
Compose photos so that the subject aligns with one of the imaginary lines that
divides the frame into thirds, either horizontally or vertically.
